Lavinia Letheby North Queensland Mural Artist
Lavinia Letheby is a professional Fine Art Visual artist who creates two-dimensional art pieces in varying mediums and surfaces. Her passion is in large scale public art pieces and the ceation of fine art pieces.

Born in thw outback town of Emerald QLD , Lavinia is the oldest of seven children. At 13 years of age she began her first business, painting large scale Christmas scenes on shopfront windows. This continued into painting all backdrops and props for high school musicals and stage productions. In her spare time she taught herself oil paints, studying Renaissance artist such as John William Waterhouse. Pro Harts’ Australian scenes were also a strong influence in her artistic development. Her dream was to travel Australia when she grew up, painting the ever changing, diverse and rugged beauty that is Australia.

In 2010 she met her partner Carlo, who shares her love of travel and exploration and together they have two young sons, Charlie and Jordan. In 2013 Lavinia began focussing on her art career, entering many exhibitions and competitions, selling numerous pieces and wining a handful of small prizes. She was also commissioned to illustrate five children’s education books which were turned into printed books and a learning app and games. In 2015 her dream of travelling Australia came true and with her partner and two young children they set off on an amazing year long adventure, where she painted numerous murals and photographed many landscapes for future painting references.

2017-2018 were spent living in the remote West Kimberley town of Fitzroy Crossing where she utilized her art and creative skills working alongside aboriginal elders, world renowned established Indigenous artists, youth and emerging young leaders. She was able to share her love of public art with the town and facilitated many murals and other art related projects with a highlight being asked to facilitate the first ever mural inside a Western Australian police station in collaboration with local youth. Whilst in Fitzroy Crossing she studied CERT 4 in Community Development Youth Focused, which strengthened her love of working with youth and working on projects that worked holistically within a community.

Lavinia is a professional North Queensland artist reknown for creating vivacious canvas works as well as unique and colourful large scale street art murals. Her artworks are vibrant, full of life and showcase the unique wonders that surround the tropics of North Queensland and Australia all over. From ancient tropical rainforests to palm fringed beaches, to absolutelt stunning wildlife, Lavinia has an endless supply of inspiration. 

Lavinia has murals all over northern Australia and has canvas works on display throughout Queensland and Internationally abroad through the Van Gogh Art Gallery in Madrid. Her love of travel is reflected in many of her works, taking viewers on a artistic adventure across our spectacular country.
